History
and Background The
history of teNeues Publishing Group
dates back to the first half of the
last century. In 1931, Dr. Heinz teNeues
founded the printing company “Dr.
teNeues & Co.” in Krefeld,
near Düsseldorf, Germany. Following
the destruction and subsequent postwar
reconstruction of the printing plant,
Heinz teNeues and his eldest son, Manfred
teNeues, developed the first publishing
programme.

made greater use of

promotional gifts
to gain customer loyalty. In 1958,
the first teNeues art calendar appeared
and it was used both for promotional,
and trade sales purposes. Public recognition
for art and photography, the representation
of landscapes and lifestyle goods expanded
in post-war Germany. In the mid 60’s,
teNeues added an extensive selection
of greeting cards to the publishing
programme, and that remains a core
product of the publishing group.
|
|
In
1977, Manfred teNeues brought both the
calendar and greetings card divisions
under the ownership of the newly-established
teNeues Verlag GmbH & Co. KG. Spun
off as a separate entity, this new publishing
company established the foundation for
the publishing group’s expansion.
In 1999 Dr. Manfred teNeues resigned
as Managing Partner of teNeues Publishing
Group and became a member of the board
of directors. teNeues’ books
about design, lifestyle

and photography
show a wide variety of diverse aspects
of modern living. The range of subjects
in new design trends in the hotel and
restaurant scenes, modern travel guides,
books about cities and landscapes continue
to expand the book programme. With an
established network of authors, photographers
and licensing agents, teNeues is continually
developing new ideas and projects.

Horst
Hamann - New York
In
beautifully-composed panoramas, portraits
and streetscapes that are at
once astonishing and intimate,Horst Hamann
shows us New York through the eyes of
a visitor, friend and adversary. We see
the city's stark angles and gentle shadows;
its majestic forests of pillars and skyscrapers;
its graceful curves, arches, and lines;
the welcoming embrace of its interior
spaces and its alienating walls of steel
and concrete.

Lighting Design
The
lighting designer is at once an artist
and an engineer. He uses the best technology
available to reveal scope, space, and
form - both in landscapes and in urban
environments - and aims to do so in a
way that achieves a functional, creative,
and environmental result. This relatively
recent profession is the focus of the
latest title in the series.
Lighting Design presents an illustrated
overview of Herve Descottes many projects.

Shop Design
Today,
the parameters of shop design have expanded
exponentially. No longer is the retail
landscape crafted onlyfor shopping convenience
and to reinforce brand identity. It has
evolved to reflect the role of shops
as a public space where we spend a large
part of our leisure time. For this reason,
architects and designers are increasingly
pushing the boundaries when designing
shop interiors.
|
|
The
result: the creation of unique and spectacular
spaces within the city; spaces which
engage and entertain even the most jaded
browsers and add to the city’s
dynamism.
