New Designers
More than 100 universities and colleges from the UK and
Ireland are represented by around 4,000 graduates. The
words bun and fight spring immediately to mind.
Once again the show has garnered support from some top
companies, with sponsors including The Audi Foundation,
Dyson, Hallmark, Goldsmiths, UK furniture manufacturer
Allermuir and Bombay Sapphire. And naturally enough there
are awards with cash prizes totalling more than £70,000
to be clinched by 40 graduates.
The show is split neatly into two halves. Part One covers
ceramics and glass; contemporary applied arts; jewellery,
silversmithing and metal work; and textiles, fashion
and accessories. Part Two looks at graphic design and
interactive media; product design; furniture design;
illustration; managing creativity; spatial design; theatre
design and model making.
Other features include a lecture series and One Year
On – a satellite exhibition organised by the Crafts
Council that proves once and for all that there is life
after graduation.
